BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee State men's basketball freshman guard Armani Chaney (Chicago, Ill.) earned Adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Helping the Tigers (18-7, 9-3 OVC) go 2-0 with wins over Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky, the 5-10 guard posted 9.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game during the week. In 20 minutes of action in TSU’s 30-point win over Tennessee Tech, Chaney recorded 11 points, two rebounds and three steals. He followed up with seven points, two rebounds and one steal at EKU in another win.
Chaney is the first TSU player to take home OVC Freshman of the Week honors this season.
The Tigers look to extend their winning streak to four games when they travel to Morehead State on Thursday, Feb. 18 for a 6 p.m. CT game.
