OPENING TIP: Looking for their third-consecutive win, the Tigers head to Eastern Kentucky for a Saturday afternoon showdown. TSU is currently third in the Ohio Valley Conference East Division standings with five regular season games remaining. The Tigers lead the nation with a 12-game win total improvement with 17 wins compared to five a season ago.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU put on a dominating performance in a convincing 85-55 home victory over first-place Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night at the Gentry Center. The Tigers shot 57.1 percent (36-for-63) from the field and scored 50 points in the paint while forcing Tech into 19 turnovers.

Keron DeShields (Baltimore, Md.) scored a team-best 15 points to lead four TSU players in double figures. Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) also tallied 14 points, while Armani Chaney (Chicago, Ill.) and Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands) recorded 11 points apiece. Demontez Loman (South Port, N.C.) finished two points shy of a double-double with eight points and a game-high 10 boards.

ABOUT EKU: The Colonels are currently in fifth place in the OVC East Division with a 5-7 conference mark. Eastern Kentucky ranks second in the OVC in scoring offense with 80.9 points per game, while ranking 12th out of 12 teams in scoring defense by allowing 79.3 points per game. Tied for the league lead with 18.7 points per game, Rhode Island transfer Jarelle Reischel has been named OVC Player of the Week once and Newcomer of the Week twice. Rookie Nick Mayo has taken home OVC Freshman of the Week nine times.

LAST TIME VS. EKU: TSU was handed a 97-81 loss by EKU at the Gentry Center on Feb. 4 in what was the Tigers’ second home defeat of the season. For EKU, Javontae Hawkins scored a game-high 36 points, and Nick Mayo registered a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards. TSU held a 33-32 rebounding edge over the Colonels, which shot 64.0 percent (32-for-50) from the field. EKU won despite turning the ball over 20 times.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. EKU: TSU has gone 25-33 in the all-time series versus EKU. EKU has won five in a row in the series with TSU’s last win coming on March 2, 2013. TSU has lost seven in a row at EKU with the Tigers’ last road victory in the series coming on March 1, 2008.

1KERON: Redshirt senior guard Keron DeShields (Baltimore, Md.) is five points away from reaching 1,000 for his career. He has scored 391 points this season and had 604 while playing at Montana from 2011-14.
