TSU Men's Basketball Ranked No. 24 in Mid-Major Top 25

MID-MAJOR TOP 25 POLL

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh off a 73-71 victory over Murray State, the Tennessee State men’s basketball team earned the No. 24 ranking in Monday’s CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. The Tigers had received votes in earlier polls but are ranked in the organization’s top 25 for the first time this season.

Tennessee State (14-4, 5-0 OVC) has won five games in a row and is tied with Belmont for first place in the East Division of the Ohio Valley Conference standings. Second-year Head Coach Dana Ford, who is the youngest Division I head coach at 31 years old, has his Tigers one win away from tripling last year’s win total of five.

The Mid-Major Top 25 is released each Monday throughout the season and is voted on by a panel of 31 mid-major head coaches. Some of the teams in the current top 10 are Gonzaga, Wichita State, St. Mary’s and Valparaiso.

TSU will look to move to 6-0 in the OVC with a Saturday, Jan. 23 road test at Belmont. Tip-off at the Curb Event Center is scheduled for 5 p.m.
