NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State men’s basketball Head Coach Dana Ford served as one of the speakers on the panel discussion at the Coaches vs. Cancer Luncheon today at Allen Arena on the campus of Lipscomb University.
The event was a collaborative effort between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to raise funds for cancer awareness and advocacy programs.
“I thought it was a great event,” Ford said. “Obviously, cancer has affected us all in some form or fashion. To get coaches together here in Nashville, and try to raise money to try to conquer cancer, I think it’s a great cause.”
Ford was joined on the panel discussion by Kevin Stallings from Vanderbilt, Austin Peay’s Dave Loos, Middle Tennessee’s Kermit Davis, Lipscomb’s Casey Alexander and Rick Byrd of Belmont.
The day began with a silent auction before the event kicked off with lunch. Former Vanderbilt standout Drew Maddux served as the keynote speaker following lunch. Ford and the other head coaches then took the stage for a panel discussion about the upcoming season and addressed other topics such as rule changes in college basketball. The event closed with an auction featuring tickets to various sporting events in the Nashville area.
