NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men’s team will take on its third Nashville opponent of the season on Saturday when travel to Lipscomb University for a game at 4:00 p.m. at Allen Arena.
The Tigers (2-6) will take on the Bisons (2-5) for the fourth time in school history. Lipscomb holds a 2-1 advantage through the first three games, winning the last matchup 75-70 at Gentry Center on Nov. 18, 2013.
TSU will look to reverse its recent fortunes as they are currently mired in a five-game losing streak. The Tigers have been held by opposing defenses to an average of 50.2 points per game during that stretch.
In their last game, Lipscomb lost at Tennessee Tech 79-84. The Golden Eagles turned the Bisons over 21 times and won the free throw battle 19-11. Josh Williams had a double-double 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Bisons.
Both Lipscomb and TSU are looking for that first win against a Division I school. The Bisons have a pair of wins against Division III schools (Berry, Transylvania).They are averaging 71 points per game in their D-I matchups.
Williams leads Lipscomb on offense with 16.1 points per game on 53.4 percent shooting. He is also the team's leading rebounder at 5.6 per game. Nathan Moran is the team’s three-point threat with a 42.9 percentage from beyond the arc and 2.6 treys per game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Allen Arena. The Tigers will be off for 10 days at the conclusion of Saturday’s contest.
