NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men’s basketball team will travel to Hampton University on Friday for the second half of a home-and-home series at HU Convocation Center.
The Tigers (2-8) fell to the Pirates (4-6) in their first meeting at Gentry Center on Dec. 2, 62-54. This back half of the home-and-home set will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. TSU holds a 2-1 advantage in the series.
TSU has seen a jump in scoring from Marcus Roper the past few games. The junior has posted consecutive games of 21 and 23 points while upping his season average to 11.6. He is shooting .517 from the floor (15-for-29) and .476 from beyond the arc (10-21).
Demontez Loman tied a season-best performance on the boards by a Tiger with 13 rebounds against Southern Illinois.
Hampton is coming off a loss to Illinois on Wednesday. The Pirates fell to the Illini 73-55. The loss snaps a three-game win streak for Hampton.
Dwight Meikle scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds during the game. The Pirates were held to 34.8 percent shooting.
TSU is currently traipsing through a seven-game losing streak. Their last win came at home against Fisk 75-60 on Nov. 20.
Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Hampton, Va.
