NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men’s basketball team began practice for the upcoming season on Monday morning on McClendon Court at Gentry Center.
The Tigers have 12 newcomers this season and Monday marked the first chance that the coaches had to see them in action. The team ran a myriad of drills and began learning each other’s tendencies as well as their coaches’ expectations of them.
“There’s a lot of inexperience with this team,” head coach Dana Ford said. “We have a lot of new guys this year and there is a lot of teaching ahead of us. Everyone had a good attitude but it’s a brand new team and a brand new system. There’ll be a slight learning curve.”
Ford is in his first year at TSU and first year, overall, as a head coach. The Tigers have only two players (Jay Harris and Christian Crockett) with Division I experience, making them the freshest team in major college basketball.
The Tigers will begin the season at home on Nov. 14 when they host Rhinehardt. Keep your eye on TSUTigers.com for continuous camp updates leading up to the season.
