Playing in the Gentry Center will be welcomed by the Tigers as they are a perfect 8-0 at home this year for the first time since the 1994-95 season. They have also won 18 of their last 19 home games dating back to last year.
The Tigers currently average 14 more points at home (76) than they do on the road (62.2) and shoot the ball at a 13 percent higher clip (51 versus 31.8).
In TSU's last game at Morehead State, Patrick Miller scored his 1000th career point, but it wasn't enough as TSU fell at Morehead State, 78-69.
Miller came into the game needing 18 points to join Robert Covington as the only current Tigers in the millennium club. He finished the game with a team-high 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting and a 9-for-10 line from the charity stripe.
Miller has 301 points so far this season, and the guard has also played more minutes than anyone else in the OVC (770).
Thornton now ranks number ten on the OVC's scoring list (14.5) while Cyphers is ninth in threes made with 42.
TSU has already beaten Tennessee Tech once this year, 72-66, on the road. The game was TSU forward M.J. Rhett's best game of his career.
Rhett was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field en route to tallying a career-high 15 points. He also recorded his first double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds and a career-high four blocks. Rhett also notched seven-straight points for the Tigers during a five-minute span.
Rhett's performance earned him OVC Player of the Week honors.
Tennessee Tech comes into Thursday's contest with an 8-12 overall record and a 2-6 mark in conference.
The Golden Eagles are fresh off a 70-52 victory over Austin Peay, but it was just the club's second win in its past 10 games.
TTU is led by Jud Dillard who is second in the OVC in points per game (19.5) and is fifth in rebounds (7.7). Dillard also ranks 20th in the nation in scoring.
In spite of Dillard's play, the Golden Eagles have had some problems scoring this season, as they rank tenth in the OVC in points per game (63.7) and 11th in field goal percentage (41.9).
TSU hosts their in-state rival on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The matchup can be seen on the OVC Digital Network.
