Coaching Staff Holds 2013 Travis Williams Summer Camp

Nashville, Tenn. – Thursday marked the end of the four-day second-annual Travis Williams Summer Camp hosted by Tennessee State University.

Over the course of the sessions, 80 boys ages 6-15 improved their basketball skills by completing drills and receiving instruction from the TSU men’s basketball coaching staff.

Williams started the day by teaching the fundamentals of defense before giving dribbling lessons that involved weaving around cones.

The kids then broke into groups to work on lay-up drills and outside jumpers with some going a full minute without missing a basket.

Later the campers formed teams based on age and scrimmaged each other, all the while receiving pointers from the six TSU coaches in attendance.

Following the pick-up games, there was an awards ceremony that included every participant being given a certificate and some exceptional performers receiving basketballs and t-shirts.

Williams closed the day with a prayer circle before bringing everybody in for a huddle and a chant of “TSU family”.
