Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University's Patrick Miller was voted the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' back-to-back wins against Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.
The award marks the third time this season Miller has been named OVC Freshman of the Week. Currently, it's the most among freshman in the conference.
In a pair of TSU victories last week, Miller averaged 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists/game while hitting 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the field and 15-of-22 (68.2%) from the free throw line.
The Chicago, Ill. native posted a season-high with 22 points in Saturday's come-from-behind win over Tennessee Tech. He hit 5-of-10 shots from the field and converted 12-of-19 from the charity stripe. In the game, the Tigers overcame a seven-point deficit with 10:41 to play. Miller also had a career-high with six rebounds in that game.
Earlier that week, he added nine points in a win over Jacksonville State to begin the week. On the season, he is averaging 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Miller also posts a team high with 34.5 minutes per game which ranks third in the OVC.
