Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigers will stay on the road when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face the Air Force Academy.
The non-conference game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. inside Clune Arena. This will be the first meeting between the teams. TSU has only engaged one U.S. Military Academy on the hardwood, defeating Navy, 100-28, in 1949, during the Tigers' undefeated run.
The Tigers (1-2) are coming off a, 73-68, loss to Illinois State on Nov. 17. The Tigers cut a 17-point halftime deficit to single digits and had an opportunity to tie the game with less than 30 seconds to play. Five players scored in double figure.
In the early part of the season, Miller (14.3 ppg), Kenny Moore (14.0 ppg), and Robert Covington (11.7 ppg) lead the Tigers in scoring. Defensively, Covington is the top rebounder with 10.7 per game and Michael Green has been a force on defense with six blocks on the year.
Air Force (1-1) is coming off an upset, 60-57, overtime loss to Colorado College on Nov. 17. Four players are averaging double digits for the Falcons in Tom Fow, (15.5 ppg), Michael Lyons (11.5 ppg), Evan Washington (11.5 ppg), and Taylor Broekhuis (10.5 ppg). Washington adds a team best, eight rebounds per game, with Broekhuis hauling in seven per contest.
In their last outing, Fow scored 17 points (6-of-10), Washington chipped in 13 and Broekhuis added 10 points and a team-high nine boards.
The Tigers will finish out their three-game road swing making the final stop to play St. Louis on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
