Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University's Kenny Moore was voted the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after his performance in the Tigers' 70-64 overtime upset over Morehead State on Sunday.
The victory extended the Tigers' win streak to four, tying the longest streak under second-year head coach John Cooper.
In the only game of the week, Moore scored six of the Tigers' 13 points in overtime. He finished with 19 points, tying a game-high, from 6-of-9 shooting. He recorded consecutive double-double performances, his third of the season, while hauling in a team high, 11 rebounds.
The 6-7 forward and native of Philadelphia, Pa. leads TSU in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounds (8.3 rpg). He ranks fifth in the OVC in points per game and second in rebounds.
Since transferring in from Midland CC, the junior has scored in double figures in 10-of-11 games played while finishing as the team's top scorer in five while finishing as the top rebounder in eight.
The Tigers will look to extend their win streak when they host Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Gentry Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
