Robinson Jr. and Smith Named to All OVC Team

Nashville, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference officially announced the selection of sophomore Gerald Robinson, Jr. and freshman Parker Smith to the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Teams.

Robinson Jr., a native of Nashville, Tenn., was named to the All-OVC Second Team and is no stranger to the all-conference selection. At the end of last season, he was named to the 2008 All-OVC Newcomer Team before being named to the 2008-09 Pre-season All-OVC Team. On the season, Robinson was nominated for the Bob Cousey Award and selected number 11 on the Tennesean's Top 20 Collegiate Players in Tennessee.

Robinson led the Tigers (12-19) in scoring with 17.6 points per game while averaging 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. In all 31 starts this season, Robinson shot 45 percent from the floor and 77 percent from the charity stripe. This year, he eclipsed his 1, 000th-career point in the the final game of the season while scoring 20-plus points in 11 games and 30 or more in two.

Smith, a native of Gainesville, Ga., was selected to the OVC All-Newcomer Team. Smith was named OVC Freshman of the Week twice while averaging 9.3 points per game starting 8-of-31 contests. He scored a career-high 31 points against Austin Peay (1/17/09) and led the Tigers in three-point and free-throw shooting. He hit 40 percent from the field including 40 percent from beyond the arc completing 81 percent from the charity stripe.
