Houston Receives First OVC Player of the Week Honors
Nashville, Tenn. - Jerrell Houston has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Player of the Week for his effort during the week of December 8-14th. This is Houston's first ever OVC Player of the Week honor.
The 6-8, senior forward from Memphis, Tenn. scored a game-high 25 points while grabbing three rebounds, dishing out two assists and notching a steal in the Tigers' 69-67 loss to Alabama A&M on Sunday. Houston hit 11-of-15 (73.3%) from the field for the game and hit 3-of-4 free throws. He scored 17 points in the second half, including 7-of-8 shooting, as the Tigers lost in the final seconds.
Currently, Houston is averaging 16.3 points per game with eight rebounds per contest. From the field, he is shooting 52 percent and hitting 85 percent from the free-throw line.
