Tigers Fall to 1-11 on the Road

Richmond, Ky. - After playing a tough first half, the Tigers could not find their rhythm in the second, losing to Eastern Kentucky in Ohio Valley Conference play, 77-59. TSU shot 48 percent from the field, hauling in a team-total, 30 rebounds. TSU's losing skid moves to three, dropping their 11th away game of the season.

Jerrell Houston scored 16 points, Darius Cox and Parker Smith chipped in 10 apiece to lead TSU.

The Tigers (6-15, 4-7 OVC) trailed 11-0 before scoring their first basket at the 14:23 mark in the first half. At the conclusion of the period, TSU shot 55 percent from the floor trailing at the break, 33-28.

Four Colonels finished in double-figures for Eastern Kentucky (13-9, 6-5 OVC). Mike Rose scored 23 points (8-of-14), Justin Stommes added 20 points (8-of-12) and Josh Taylor and Papa Oppong contributed 10 each.  

Eastern Kentucky opened up a 28-point lead on a 30-7 run in the second half with 10:31 remaining. TSU could not rebound from the deficit coming within 21 points late in the half.

TSU will host Murray State on February 4th at the Gentry Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
