The Tennessee State Tigers (12-16, 9-10) suffered a second half letdown and lost 84-76 at Morehead State (15-13, 12-7) in a crucial OVC game.
TSU had a tremendous first half, leading by 21 points (48-27) with :34 remaining in the half, and 48-29 at halftime.
The second half, however, turned out much differently as Morehead State outscored the Tigers 55-28 to claim the eight point win (84-76).
Gerald Robinson, Jr., led all scorers with 24 points and Bruce Price passed the 1,500 career point plateau netting 15 points to push his career scoring total to 1,510. LaDarious Weaver was the only other Tiger in double figures scoring 11 points, all in the first half.
Morehead State was paced by Kenneth Faried and Leon Buchanan who score 23 points each. Buchanan added 10 rebounds for a double-double on the night.
The Tigers shot 68% from the floor in the first half and 43% in the second half. TSU hit 10-12 (83%) from 3-point range in the first half and just 2-9 (22%) from long range in the second half. Shooting from the FT line was a reflection of all shooting 4-4 (100%) in the first half and 2-6 (33%) in the second half. Morehead State outrebounded TSU 37-26.
TSU will travel to Richmond, KY to face Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, 3/01, for their final regular-season basketball game and a shot at an OVC tournament berth.
