Gerald Robinson Named OVC Freshman of the Week
Gerald Robinson, Jr., a 6-0 185 freshman guard from Nashville, Tennessee has been named Ohio Valley Conference “Freshman of the Week” for his play November 9-11, 2007.
In his first two games in a Tennessee State uniform, the true freshman Robinson averaged 25.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game while hitting 55.9 percent (19-of-34) from the field, 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from 3-point range and 100 percent (3-of-3) from the charity stripe.
He scored 26 points, in his collegiate debut, in the Tigers 90-80 season-opening victory over Cumberland, hitting 10-of-15 shots (67%) and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from 3-point range and adding four steals.
In a home game against ACC foe Georgia Tech, Robinson connected on 9-of-19 (47.4%) shots and 5-of-12 (41.7%) from long range on his way to 24 points. He also added three steals against the Ramblin’ Wreck.
