-- Andrae Belton nets 14 points to lead five Tigers in double-figures, but hot shooting first half dooms Tigers from the start -- Cape Girardeau, MO - The Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State jumped on the Tennessee State Tigers with a red-hot shooting first half and cruised to a 92-78 win. The Tigers fall to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Five Tigers scored in double figures, led by junior Andrae Belton (14), followed by Reiley Ervin (13), Ladarious Weaver (12), Larry Turner (11) and Clarence Matthews (10). Tennessee State fell behind 15-4 during the first 4:47 of the game and trailed by 30 points (46-16) at the 5:11 mark after SEMO went on a 25-4 run. The Redhawks hit a dazzling 10 of 19 three-pointers (52.5%) in the first half to the Tigers 0 - 5 from beyond the arc. Southeast Missouri took a 52-30 lead into the locker room at intermission. SEMO cooled off in the second half, hitting only 27 percent (3-11) from three-point land, but the Tigers were never able to cut the lead below 17 points, 54-37 (16:09) and 63-46 (12:26). TSU lost the battle of the boards 34-33 and had 23 turnovers to 20 for Southeast Missouri. On the game TSU shot 47.5 percent (29-61) from the floor and 66.7 percent (14-21) from the foul line. The Tigers were 6 of 18 (33.3%) from beyond the arc. SEMO finished the game hitting 31-60 (51.7%) from the floor, 17-21 (81%) from the foul line and 13-30 (43.3%) from 3-point range. Tennessee State will next play at Eastern Illinois on Saturday, 1/20/07. game time is set for 7:30p.
