Nashville, TN-Tennessee State's Ladarious Weaver registered a career high 26 points, but was outscored by UT Martin's Gerald Robinson who put up 32 points to lead the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks to a 76-74 victory over Tennessee State University in front of 4,107 at TSU's Gentry Center and a national ESPNU TV audience. With the loss the Tigers extended their losing streak to five games and fall to 10-15, 6-9 in Ohio Valley Conference play, and Tennessee Martin improved to 7-20, 5-12. UT Martin ended a three-game losing streak After a close first half that saw the Skyhawks take a 32-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.In the second half, the Tigers built leads of seven points twice and led UTM 62-55 with 7:11 remaining, but the Skyhawks would outscore TSU 21-12 the rest of the way, for their second comeback victory against the Tigers this season. Weaver was 7-of-15 from behind the arc, tying a career high for 3-pointers made in a game. Clarence Matthews finished with 16 points and had a game high eight rebounds. Andrae Belton added 12 points and led the Tigers with six assists. TSU heads out for a three-game road trip before returning to host Loyola (MD) in an ESPNU Bracket Buster game on Saturday, February 17. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm in the Gentry Center.
