TIGERS TO HOST LOYOLA MARYLAND IN BRACKETBUSTER
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Earlier today ESPN announced TSU's opponent for the ESPN Bracketbuster game on Saturday, February 17th will be Loyola College of Maryland. The two teams are similar in RPI (TSU 230 / Loyola 212), however Loyola currently sits on top of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 13-8 overall record and are 9-2 in the conference. The teams have two common opponents with TSU collecting a 49-47 win over Towson in November in Las Vegas and losing at Siena in December, 81-69. Loyola Maryland has swept Siena and lost at home to Towson, 70-62. The ESPNU Bracketbusters concept provides participating programs with an opportunity to play non-conference opponents about 3 weeks before selection Sunday. All teams hosting games this year will travel to play their opponents sometime during the 2007-08 season. Last season, the Tigers traveled to Muncie, Indiana to play Ball State and came away with a thrilling 70-69 victory.
