NASHVILLE --- Two Tennessee State men's basketball players have received two of the weekly awards presented by the Ohio Valley Conference. Sophomore guard Bruce Price has been tabbed as the OVC Player of the Week while Flowers has been named OVC Newcomer of the Week for the third time in as many weeks to start the season. Price averaged 19.7 points per game as he led TSU to a 2-1 record this past week. The sophomore guard from Minneapolis, Minn., opened with 25 points and five assists versus Trevecca, then followed that with 15 points against Fisk and 19 points at Middle Tennessee. For the week, Price drained eight 3-pointers and went 21-of-26 at the free throw line while handing out nine assists and recording five steals. Flowers(6-9, 240) picks up his third OVC Newcomer award after posting two double-doubles and just missing a third during in the three games. The senior center and graduate student from Huntsville, Ala., averaged 16.7 points and 11.7 rebounds a game while also blocking six shots. Flowers has four double-dips thus far and leads the OVC in rebounding (9.9 rpg) while ranking ninth in scoring (16.5 ppg). The Tigers will return to action Dec. 14 when they host Alabama A&M in the Gentry Center.
