TSU SLIPS PAST GAMECOCKS IN SEASON FINALE
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State's Wayne Arnold hit a 3-point field goal with 19 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers to a 63-62 victory over Jacksonville State in the season finale Saturday night. The Tigers finished in a fifth place tie and will face Eastern Kentucky as the number seven seed in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Tuesday night in Richmond, Ky. TSU concludes the regular season at 9-7 in the OVC and 14-16 overall. The Tigers trailed much of the second half against the Gamecocks in a game that featured 10 lead changes. JSU's Walker Russell made six straight free throws in the final 2:33, the last two that gave JSU a 62-60 lead. The Gamecocks went the final 7:32 without a field goal, but made 13-14 free throws. Eric King led TSU with 21 points while Arnold finished with 16 points. Bruce Price added 10. B.J. Spencer added 19 and Walker finished with 16 for JSU which concluded its season at 7-22 overall and 2-14 in the OVC.
