TSU'S PRICE NAMED ROOKIE OF WEEKFOR PLAY IN OVC OPENING WINS

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State freshman guard Bruce Price has been named Ohio Valley Conference Rookie of the Week for his play in the Tigers' Ohio Valley Conference wins over Jacksonville State and Samford this past week. Price led the Tigers offensive efforts as TSU broke an 18-game OVC regular-season losing streak. He tallied a career-high 38 points against Jacksonville State on 57 percent field goal shooting (5-of-8 3-pointers) and 17-of-24 from the free throw line. Against Samford, he scored 13 points, making 11-of-12 free throws, including all six attempts to help seal the win. The Minneapolis, Minn. resident also had 10 rebounds, nine assists, eight steals, and once blocked shot in the two games. Two of the steals came down the stretch of the Samford game as TSU rallied from a 12-point second half deficit. The OVC honors the Player, Newcomer, and Rookie of the Week during the course of the season.
