TIGERS SET TO OPEN CY ALEXANDER ERA
NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State men's basketball program officially launches the "Cy Alexander Era" as the Tigers' new head coach will lead his team into his first regular season game as the Tigers host Trevecca University Tuesday night. The men's contest will be a part of a doubleheader with the women's team. The Lady Tigers and Birmingham Southern get the evening underway at 5:45 p.m. The Tigers posted a 2-0 mark in their two exhibition tilts, defeating Sports Reach (86-70) and VASDA USA (90-68). TSU was tied 40-40 at halftime in its last outing in a game against VASDA, but used a strong defensive effort in the second half. TSU opened the final 20 minutes with a 24-6 run. Freshman guard Bruce price average 27.5 points in the two exhibition games. He is expected to be joined in the starting lineup by seniors Garrett Richardson and Cedric Bryson, junior Roshaun Bowens, and sophomore Adrian Pritchett. Following the Trevecca game, the Tigers will play at Tennessee on Friday night before returning to the Gentry Center to host Chattanooga on Monday, Dec. 1.
