NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Tigers made the trip home Sunday morning and will go against an Oral Roberts basketball team which is off to an impressive start to the 2002-03. Tipoff is 7 p.m. Monday (Dec. 2) in the Gentry Center. After playing at Big Ten Conference member Iowa Saturday night, the Tigers will be facing an ORU team which has knocked off Arkansas and Wichita State among its three victories on the young season. The Tigers are 1-2 on the season and will look to get its shooting untracked. After starting the season with a 59 percent effort from the floor in a 107-94 win over Trevecca, TSU has shot just 31 percent (37-114) in the last two games. Sophomore Roshaun Bowens leads the Tigers in scoring at 16.7 ppg. Josh Cooper is at 13.7 ppg, and Garrett Richardson is averaging 13.3 ppg after being hobbled by foul trouble and scoring four just points in the Iowa game. Brandon Lockridge came off the bench to lead TSU with 14 points at Iowa and has moved to 10.7 ppg after three games. TSU will be playing its final home game until the new year when the Tigers host ORU. TSU’s next appearance in the Gentry Center will not be until Jan. 2 against Morehead State in the Ohio Valley Conference opener. The Tigers will play in Nashville on Thursday night at Lipscomb. ORU defeated Arkansas 76-64 and came back with a 76-71 win over Wichita State on Saturday. The Golden Eagles had opened the season with 112-66 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. Reggie Borges leads ORU at 20.3 ppg while Tyrone Tiggs averages 18.7 ppg. ###
