TIGER BASKETBALL TEAM OVERCOMESNASHVILLE ALL-STARS IN DOUBLE OT
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State had to overcome a pair of long 3-point shots that forced overtime and then a second overtime to net a 115-110 double overtime win over the Nashville Stars in men's exhibition play Wednesday night. The Tigers were leading down the stretch, but Eric Johnson tossed in a 35-footer to knot the score at 91-91 after regulation. Demarkus Doss then sank a long shot after a TSU turnover to tie the score at 101-105 after the first extra period. However, the Tigers gained control in the second overtime and were able to finally secure the win. TSU placed five players in double figures. Garrett Richardson led TSU with 33 points while Josh Cooperwood tallied 29. Doss, a former standout at Eastern Kentucky, led the All-Stars with 33 points. TSU opens the regular season Friday night against Trevecca.
