TIGERS CAN'T HOLD HALFTIME LEAD ASTECH STORMS BACK FOR OVC VICTORY
NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State held a three-point halftime lead over visiting Tennessee Tech Saturday night, but the visitors stormed back with 68-second half points on the way to a 101-72 Ohio Valley Conference win. The Tigers led 37-33 at intermission over the defending OVC champions, but Tech roared back behind its strong inside talent in the second half. The Golden Eagles converted 26-36 for 72 percent from the field in the final half. TSU saw Damien Kinloch score 18 of his game-high 25 points in the second half. Greg Morgan added 15 points in the second half while another inside player, Damien Perkins, contributed with 10 rebounds. The Tigers had built their first half lead behind Roshaun Bowens 14 points in the opening half. Bowens converted all 12 free throw opportunities in the first half. Bowens finished the game with 19 points while Josh Cooperwood scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half. TSU junior guard Garrett Richardson, who was recognized before the game for crossing the 1,000-career point milestone, had 11 points and improved on his league leadership in the steals department with four against the Golden Eagles. The Tigers will play their final road game of the season when they travel to Murray State for a game against the defending OVC Tournament Champions.
