NASHVILLE --- Chris Rowland has been named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Specialist of the Week for his performance against Eastern Illinois. This marks the third time this season Rowland has been honored by the OVC.
Rowland returned a punt 57 yards for a touchdown and finished the game with 131 all-purpose yards, two total touchdowns and a two-point conversion against Eastern Illinois. The senior's performance came all in the first 30 minutes of play, as he missed the second half due to injury. Rowland, who returned a kick for a touchdown earlier this season, is the only FCS player to return both a punt and kickoff for a touchdown in 2019. He also caught three passes for 55 yards and a 36-yard touchdown. Despite missing the second half Rowland still ranks first nationally in receiving yards (1,289), receiving yards per game (128.9) and receptions per game (9.2) and second in all-purpose yards (194.9 per game).
The honor marks the sixth week a Tiger has won an OVC honor this season. Chris Rowland has earned two honors while Kaleb Mosley earned the specialist honor in week five.
