Tennessee State football student-athlete Christion Abercrombie was presented with the first-ever Ohio Valley Conference Courage Award at the 2019 OVC Football Media Day on Monday.

The award is given to those who have some strength in the face of adversity. Last September Abercrombie suffered an life-threatening injury in a football game and in the time since has made remarkable improvement.

During the Media Day event, Abercrombie did several interviews with media members and spent time with the coaches and student-athletes from OVC member schools.

A native of Atlanta, Abercrombie began his career at the University of Illinois, spending two years before playing as a redshirt sophomore at TSU in 2018.  This past April during the NFL Draft in Nashville, he announced the Tennessee Titan's fifth round draft pick.
