NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Athletic Department announced the times for the 2019 Football Schedule on Tuesday morning. The slate includes six home contests, the most since the 2014 campaign, and a visit to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, as part of the Southern Heritage Classic.
The John Merritt Classic will serve as the opener on Aug. 31 as the Big Blue hosts Mississippi Valley State. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. at Nissan Stadium. TSU will then take to the road for a matchup with Middle Tennessee at 6:00 p.m. in Murfreesboro on Sept. 7.
The Tigers will play their third consecutive 6:00 p.m. as they face Jackson State in the SHC on Sept. 14. Tennessee State returns to the Music City for an encounter with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 21. The Tigers and Lions are set for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff in Hale Stadium.
TSU will take to the road to open Ohio Valley Conference play with games at Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State. The contest in Richmond, Ky. on Sept. 28 is set for 6:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. CT, a week before a 6:00 p.m. faceoff in Jacksonville, Ala. against the Gamecocks.
The Tigers will begin a four game home stand on Oct. 12 against Murray State in Hale Stadium. The Big Blue will also face Southeast Missouri (Nov. 2) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 9) in the Hole. All three games are set for 2:00 p.m. starts. The Homecoming game versus Austin Peay (Oct. 19) is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Nissan Stadium.
TSU will close out the season with a pair of road contests, beginning with a 2:00 p.m. battle at UT Martin (Nov. 16) prior to facing Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn. at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 23.
Ticket sales begin on Monday, July 8, while pre-orders are currently being accepted.
