Clark, Ogundeko and Smith Named to STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State placed three members on the STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team for 2017. Senior kicker Lane Clark was named to the first team, while senior defensive end Ebo Ogundeko was selected to the second team and senior wide receiver Patrick Smith to the third team.

Clark is coming off a season in which he was one of four kickers in levels of the NCAA to kick four field goals from beyond 50-yards. Clark and Smith helped the TSU offense to become the top scoring offense in the Ohio Valley conference a year ago. Clark totaled 89 points, just ahead of Smith who scored 78 points.

The wide out from Memphis averaged 15.8 yards per reception to go along with 13 touchdowns. In two seasons with the Tigers, Smith has amassed 115 catches, 1,962 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Ogundeko played in just eight games, six full, and totaled 48 tackles, 11.0 tackles-for-loss and 5.0 sacks. The defensive end was named to the STATS FCS Buck Buchanon Award Watch List a season ago despite his limited action.

With three players, the Tigers were only behind South Dakota State (6) North Dakota State (5), Sam Houston (5) and defending National Champion James Madison (4) in selections.
