NASHVILLE --- Day three of the 2017 camp saw Tennessee State put on the shoulder pads and practice indoors for the first time this season. The Tigers were forced inside due to rain and lightning in the area.

Friday morning's practice surged with energy as the team intensity picked up due to the ability for contact. The electricity was evident in the first set of drills as the popping sound echoed through the indoor practice facility.

The 7-on-7 picked up as well with all four quarterbacks connecting on big plays throughout the session. The defense had its share of plays, but stepped up during the 20-play team session.

The Tigers will resume practice on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m.

Sophomore, Linebacker Reggie Gunn
- On practicing indoors
“Day three went well. We made more progress as the days went on. The first day was really hot. We had to get acclimated to the sun. Today, we’re indoors. Everyone is flying around, high tempo. I think it was pretty good.”

- On what needs to improve throughout camp
“I need to build my technique. I know the plays, now I just have to get my technique down. Overall we have to work together and be a team.”

Sophomore, running back Sabree Curtis Jr.
- On Friday’s practice
“Everyone was flying around with high tempo. Everyone competed, had fun and did what they do best – played football.”

- On the highlight of the day
“I have to say when I broke out for the team win on a screen pass behind my lineman. It was great.”

- On the next step for camp
“I need to work on executing, studying the plays and make sure I know my assignment. I want us to win the OVC championship, but first I just want us to take one game at a time.”

Senior, offensive guard Ty Allen
- On practicing in shells
“It went really good. The attention was good. The aggression was good. Everyone was flying around.”

Redshirt-freshmen, defensive lineman Jerquez Hughey
- On the third day of practice
“The day was pretty good. We have a lot of the pieces of the puzzle starting to come together, while we’re working on technique and fundamentals.”

- On the highlight of the day
“The highlight of my day was having the opportunity to come out and work on my craft. Like coach always says, you’re not always as good as you think you are and you’re not as bad as you think you are. It was another opportunity to work on my technique and get better with the team.”

- On his summer workouts
“My prep consisted of working on my weak points. Like I said, you’re never as good as you think you are, and getting in good condition.”
