NASHVILLE --- Cold and rainy conditions did not stop the eighth annual “Tee Off with the Tigers” Golf Tournament from being a success. Alumni, friends and supporters of the Tennessee State University athletic department competed on Friday at Ted Rhodes Golf Course in a fundraiser for the TSU football team.
"I thought we had a good day even though the weather was inclement," TSU Head Football Coach Rod Reed said. "The guys still showed up and played, and we had a good time. We gave away some nice prizes and had good food. It's always good to see the people, even in this type of weather, come out and support the Tigers. I was really pleased with the way it went today."
The champion in the 11-team event was South Street Team with a score of 55. The Citizens Bank team took second with 56 strokes followed by Bestway Janitorial in third with 57 strokes.
Golfers and supporters enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the clubhouse. In between, the teams of four competed in the 18-hole course in an 8 a.m. shotgun start. At the end of the day, Reed hosted a raffle and handed out prizes.
In addition to the golf action, Nashville Sports Radio (WNSR 560 AM and 95.9 FM) carried a live broadcast of The Bill King Show and The Greg Pogue and Big Joe Show in the clubhouse throughout the morning.
