BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State kicker Lane Clark has been named adidas Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week for his performance versus UT Martin.
Clark set the TSU school record for longest field goal twice against UT Martin, hitting a 54-yarder in the second quarter and a 2016 NCAA-best 57-yarder with 7:27 to play as the Tigers won 34-30. The 57-yarder is the longest in any level of NCAA football this season (FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III) and the longest in the OVC over the past 15 years.
The Hays, Kan. native surpassed Rigoberto Sanchez of Hawai’i and Elliot Fry from South Carolina who each hit from 55 yards earlier this season.
Clark was a perfect 4-for-4 on extra points, scoring 10 points, and had a pair of touchbacks on the day. The junior specialist currently ranks fifth nationally in field goals/game (1.50) and 29th in scoring (8.8 points/game).
Clark converted on a 47-yarder in the season opener versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff, giving him the three longest field goals in the OVC this season.
