BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State’s Earl Harrison was named Ohio Valley Conference co-Newcomer of the Week. The freshman earned the honor after recording his first 100-yard rushing performance.

Harrison needed just 13 carries to cross the century mark and averaged 8.7 yards per carry. After a 40 yard run was called back, The Memphis, Tenn. native came back a series later and barreled up the middle for a 46 yard touchdown run.
Harrison finished with 113 yards of the teams 210 yards rushing. The Tigers averaged 4.8 yards per carry, as they totaled six runs for 10 yards or more on the afternoon.
TSU is averaging 177.7 yards per game, which is second only to Jacksonville State in the OVC and ranks 36th in the nation.
The Tigers will put their 3-0 start on the line when they return to action on Oct. 1 as they host UT Martin and the start of conference play.
