NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State’s Ebenezer ‘Ebo’ Ogundeko was named Ohio Valley Conference adidas Defensive Player of the Week. The redshirt-junior wreaked havoc on the opponent’s offense for the second consecutive game.
The defensive end finished with 11 tackles, four solo, and 2.0 sacks. Ogundeko registered 3.0 tackles for loss of 21 yards, forced a fumble, blocked a kick, had a pass breakup and a quarter back hurry. Ogundeko led the way for the defense who registered eight tackles for loss and four sacks, as they held JSU to 3.2 yards per play. The second-year Tiger currently leads the FCS with 4.5 sacks.
This marks the second time Ogundeko has won the award. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native was honored for his play against Murray State (11/8) a year ago.
The Tigers will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a non-conference matchup with Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, Sept. 17.
