NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State football held its annual Pro Day on Thursday afternoon at the Indoor Football Facility in front of representatives from 20 NFL organizations.
Eight former Tigers showed off their abilities in numerous facets, including strength, speed, agility and positional skills.
Tight end Joe Bowens and defensive lineman Dinsdale Jackson provided solid performances. The 6’4” Bowens ran the 40-yard dash in 4.9 while recording a leap of 30 inches. Jackson posted the best day on the bench by recording 25 reps and ran a 5.08 40 at close to 300 pounds. Jackson was also able to reach 26 inches in his vertical leap.
Offensive lineman Shaq Anthony battled injuries throughout his final season, but was able to rest and rehab to perform at today’s event. Anthony put up 22 reps on the bench and ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.93.
Andrew Dale, a defensive back and member of the special teams, registered the best time in the 40 (4.7) and vertical (35) to go with his 6’3” frame.
Other Tigers who worked out and are hopeful for a shot at the next level were Andrew Bather, Sterlin Leveque, James Lewis and Tom Smith.
The NFL Draft is scheduled for Apr. 28-30 in Chicago, Ill.
