Tennessee State University’s campus was filled with young freshmen ready to begin their journey in the Land of Golden Sunshine on Tuesday. But as Move-In Day ensued, TSU Football continued its preparation for the upcoming 2015 season.
The Tigers began the day with taping and breakfast before participating in the first practice of the day at 7:30 a.m.
“I thought today’s practice went well for the offense,” commented Coach Reed on the morning outing. “Defensively we got off to a slow start today and we never really recovered. I told the defense after practice, that’s not Tennessee State defense. I was really proud of our offense though… we came out aggressively and ran the football well.”
Twelve days into camp, overall, Coach Reed is satisfied with the progress that the team has made thus far.
“I think that the guys are taking the coaching well. From top to bottom we’ve improved in some areas and we’ve been able to look at some young guys and find out who can help our program this year. That’s what camp is all about. You have a pretty good idea of what you have coming back, the big thing is the new guys and cleaning up mistakes. We haven’t made the same mistakes day in and day out and I think we’ve seen progression in our team.”
Following the morning practice, the Big Blue staff and players spent more than two hours assisting with freshmen move-in before returning to the business at hand. Meetings highlighted the afternoon and TSU completed its second practice of the day (13th overall) from 5:15-7:15 p.m .in Hale Stadium.
