NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The first full week of practice has come to a close for Tennessee State football with a Friday morning workout. The Tigers will cap off the time on the field with a scrimmage on Saturday morning in Hale Stadium at 7:30 a.m.
After putting time in with their respected position coaches, the Big Blue competed in a seven-on-seven matchup. The defense set the tone as Terrell Bonds stepped in front of a would-be receiver and scampered down the left sideline for a 45-yard interception return.
The defensive backfield continued its play during the scripted 25-play session as Bernell Brooks delivered a thundering blow on a third down attempt. The offensive line opened a hole in the middle of the field and looked to have a first down. Brooks had other ideas as he charged in from the right side of the defensive backfield and met the runner at the line, knocking him off his feet and stopping him well short of the line of gain.
After the morning scrimmage, the Tigers will work out in helmets and shoulder pads at 5:15 p.m. Both Saturday sessions will be open to the public.
