NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The weather cooperated on Thursday as the Tennessee State football team completed its first two-a-day practice of the fall. The morning practice was held under temperatures in the low 80’s with a slight breeze, while the evening workout was in the high 70’s and a cooling breeze.
In the first session of the day, the Tigers worked in groups before competing in a seven-on-seven tussle, followed by a 25-play live face-off. The Big Blue closed out the morning with work on goal-line offense and defense.
Special teams work was the main emphasis for the Tigers in the evening. First year punter Austin Rowley made a strong first impression with his performance, which even brought a roar from his special teams unit.
The evening continued with work on kick-offs and returns. The evening concluded after another 25-play session with the coaching staff getting an opportunity to take a look at their third and assorted newcomers.
The Big Blue will practice on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m., which will be the last workout before a Saturday morning scrimmage. All practices are open to the public.
