NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tigers took to the field on Wednesday in full pads for the first time in 2015. The morning workout in Hale Stadium saw the return of the one-on-one battles in the Bull Ring.
The fifth practice of the season saw the coaching staff focus on extreme details to prepare the Tigers for the first contest versus Alabama State on September 6, in the John Merritt Classic.
During the live 25-play session, the offense found success with the running game. Telvin Hooks, Tom Smith, Arkeem Granger and Erick Evans all found running room behind the work from the offensive line.
The defense did have their fair share of stops against the ground attack, but really impressed with its pass rush. The front seven found themselves in the offensive backfield on numerous occasions, creating hurries and sacks.
The first two-a-day for the Tigers will take place on Thursday. The morning session is from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and with the team in full pads. The evening session is helmets and shoulder pads only and will run from 5:15-7:15 p.m. Both sessions are open to the public.
