NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a day off on Sunday, the Tennessee State football squad returned to the practice field in preparation for the 2015 season. The Tigers enjoyed the overcast skies before dealing with the heat as the sun burned through the clouds half way through the morning session.
Monday marked the first day for TSU to dawn the helmets and shoulder pads. The day began with seven head-to-head matchups in the “Bull Ring” where an offensive player and a defensive player square off to see who can hold the advantage in the trenches. The Tigers then went back to work starting with a special team’s session followed by drills with their respected coaches.
The Big Blue continued with a 7-on-7 workout before bringing the field goal unit back on the field to face a live rush. The session ended with sophomore place kicker Lane Clark drilling a 47-yard field goal with the fate of extra conditioning for the team at the end of practice.
The day closed out with a 25-play scrimmage with the battle in trenches was the showcase. Both sides came away with wins up front helping keep the workout fairly even.
The Tigers resume training camp on Tuesday morning at 9:15am with the session open to the public.
