Thrasher Named TSWA Defensive Player of the Week

NASHVILLLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State senior Nick Thrasher was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Defensive Player of the Week for his role in TSU’s, 31-27, win at Austin Peay.

Thrasher collected 12 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback hurries in the Tigers’ win over Austin Peay. The victory ended a five-game losing streak for TSU.

The Morrow, Ga., native leads the club with 121 tackles this season, including eight double-figure outings. The senior has registered double-digits in each of the six contests with a season-high 17 two weeks ago versus Eastern Kentucky.

Thrasher also has 11.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks along with one interception and three pass breakups this season. Tennessee State is off this week before ending the regular season at Murray State on November 22.
