NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State seniors Anthony Bass and De’Ante Saunders were honored by the College Football Performance Awards on Wednesday.
Bass was named Defensive Lineman Performer of the Week after recording four stops, two sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss and an interception. Bass anchored a defensive unit that only allowed 76 yards of total offense, five first downs and did not give up any points.
Saunders was named Punt Returner Player of the Week following a weekend in which he ran back a punt for a score. Saunders’s punt return for a touchdown was TSU’s first since Oct. 8, 2011 when Weldon Garlington scampered 91 yards against Southeast Missouri.
Bass, Saunders and the rest of the Tigers will take on Alabama State on Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
