NASHVILLE, Tenn. – If defense was the story yesterday, the Tennessee State offense certainly stole the show on Thursday.
“I really like the way the offense bounced back today,” head coach Rod Reed said. “They connected on a lot of big plays and did a great job in the red zone.”
Most of those big plays came through the air as Mike German completed bombs to Isaiah Freeman and Chris Sanders-McCollum. On both instances, the wide receivers leapt over the defense to make the grab.
“We had some defensive players who missed a few plays here and there [leading to some missed assignments]. We don’t expect those big plays to happen, but that’s a good job by the offense to take advantage.”
In the red zone, German tossed scores to Ryan Mitchell and JUCO transfer tight end Archie Dennard from 15 yards out.
