Tigers Set To Complete Week One With Scrimmage

The Tennessee State University Tigers football team will complete their  first week of camp with a scrimmage in Hale Stadium on Saturday, August 13th at 6:15p.

TSU head football coach Rod Reed and his staff will get a chance to see how well the 2011 team has progressed during the first week that has had to deal with oppressive heat. The Tigers have taken the field in the mornings for drills and utilized their newly completed indoor practice facility for afternoon walk-throughs. The new indoor practice facility the Tigers' are utilizing for camp is a $2.8 million dollar facility and makes TSU one of only six FCS (of 126) programs with such a facility.

On Saturday, TSU special teams will participate in the normal morning outdoor practice session in Hale Stadium from 7:30-8:30a and then return to Hale for the scrimmage from 6:15 - 8:45p. The scrimmage will also serve as a training activity for area football officials.

Tennessee State opens their 2011 season on September 3, 2011, when they host Southern University at LP Field in the John Merritt Classic.
