Nashville, Tenn. - Tennessee State University placekicker Jamin Godfrey was named to the College Football Performance Awards' (CFPA) preseason watch list earlier this week.
Godfrey, a junior on the team, connected on 37-of-39 extra point attempts and was 16-of-24 in field goal attempts during the 2011 campaign. He ranked first in scoring among all kickers in the OVC and tied a school record with 16 field goals in a season.
The McMinn Central product is tied for third all-time with 25 career made field goals and is third with 42 field goal attempts.
Last season, Godfrey ranked eighth nationally in the Football Championship Subdivision level with 1.45 field goals per game. He was 29th among all players with 7.73 points scored per contest.
Godfrey was named the OVC Specialist of the Week on Oct. 9 after connecting on all seven PATs and hitting 2-of-3 field goal attempts against Southeast Missouri.
The CFPA watch list is a rough guide, highlighting returning players with strong individual performances. Earlier this year, Trabis Ward was named to the CFPA Preseason Runningbacks watch list.
