Garlington Honored Nationally for Punt Return

Tennessee State University freshman Weldon Garlington was once again honored nationally as the College Football Performance Awards Punt Returner of the Week after returning a 91-yard punt on Saturday against Southeast Missouri.

For the second week in a row, Garlington earned national accolades for returning a kick. The Antioch native returned a 100-yard kick against Austin Peay before turning in a 91-yard punt return against the Redhawks.

Garlington is averaging 30.7 yards per kick return, ranking sixth nationally in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. He is averaging 22.8 yards per punt return.

Tennessee State returns to action next weekend when they play at No. 21 Tennessee Tech. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
