Nashville, Tenn. - Another Tennessee State University running back has earned national recognition for the 2010 season. Dante' Thomas was selected to the College Football Performance Award D-I FCS National Performers of Week honorable mention list for week five.
In his first start of the season, Thomas posted career highs rushing for two touchdowns, posting and a game-high, 186 yards on 24 carries, averaging 7.8 yards per touch. Thomas' performance help lead the Tigers to a 37-7 victory over North Carolina A&T in the Circle City Classic on Saturday. The CFPA honorable mention is his first national weekly selection.
Thomas joins teammate, Preston Brown, becoming the second Tiger selected to CFPA weekly performance list this year. Brown was selected Co-Running Back Performer of the Week after week two, followed by a selection to the honorable mention list after week four.
On the season, Thomas is averaging 6.7 per rush from 400 yards rushing on 60 carries.
