Football holds 2nd Annual Tee Off with the Tigers

Nashville, Tenn. - Football head coach, Rod Reed, and the Tennessee State University Athletic Department will tee off this Friday, April 29, for the 2nd Annual TSU Football Golf Tournament.

All proceeds from the event will help support the Tigers 2011 football season this fall.

The first round tee off is set on the par-72 course for 8:00 a.m. A lunch buffet, awards ceremony, and a raffle for door prizes with giveaways will cap off the event during the late afternoon.

The tournament will be held at the Ted Rhodes Golf Course located at 1901 Ed Temple Blvd. The 18-hole course, designed by Gary Roger Baird in 1993, features four sets of tee boxes for the enjoyment of golfers of all skill levels.

The tournament will include a four-person scramble with prizes awarded to the top five teams. Representatives from corporate sponsors entered in the event will have a chance to compete in  individual contests. Additional donations will be accepted throughout the day.

This year's corporate sponsor four-man teams will include: David Hood Tennessee Quick Cash, Citizens Bank, Steven Harris, INC., Davis Dudley Family Dentistry, Aramark, Chick-Fil-A, Pepsi, Pancake Pantry, Lewis and Wright Funeral Homes, Crest Cadillac, RJ Young, DRC Foundation, Embassy Suite Hotel, Mid South Wire, Harpeth Pediatrics PLLC, Buffalo Wild Wings, Holiday Inn Vanderbilt, Outback Steakhouse, The Boundary Restaurant, Free at Last Bail Bonds, Robert Dyer Tennessee Orthopedic (TOA), Lee Adcock Construction, TSU Atlanta Alumni, Logan's Roadhouse, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, U.S. Army, Maggiano's Little Italy Restaurant and AJAX Turner.     

In its first year, the event accommodated more than 200 people in attendance with Tennessee Quick Cash picking up the first-place award with the group of David Hood, Tom Schwartz, Connolly Brown, and Bo Dudley. The quartet shot a combined 55.

The Tigers will open the 2011 season against Southern University in the John Merritt Classic on September 3. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
